Ya know, I was 100% supportive of freeing the local channel from spammers because there was a good reason to do that - People were unable to use that channel. A handful of spammers were disrupting an area of the game for everyone else, so I had no problem when they were told to stop or face consequences. However this party search update was done for one simple reason, and you said it yourself, to force people to use the search function. I don't like that. I don't like being forced to play a certain way when I'm not disrupting others. That type of thing needs to stop. However, even though that does tick me off a bit, it's not a major issue.. the major issue here is whether the lag was fixed or not. Time will tell, but right now it looks good. First time I've had a green ping at this hour in about 3 weeks, nevermind in the middle of Kamadan D1. Absolutely poor handling of the situation, however I'm not going to let that deny me enjoying a tolerable amount of lag, finally.
Glad Anet seems to have fixed this, however, why not let everyone know what's going on next time? Would it have been so bad to say "We realize players in places other than Europe are being affected, and we're working to fix this for everyone"? Would have made this whole thing so much better for everyone..

Logged on well here...just dl'd the files pretty slowly.
On other notice of update...previously explored "Competitive Arenas" such as The Crag, Amnoon Arena etc. seem to be re-fogged.

ack, after restarting my computer thinking that may help the graphics issue, I'm now experiencing the "can't log in" problem
Boo.
Other than that, the new map is shiny goodness

You can't log in right now because there's a patch going on to fix the graphics. Supposedly.

If you were in American districts trying to go to Europe then you would get an err7, after the 2nd update they took the option out.
And no the American districts weren't closed, I with many others were fine.
